Gander enjoys a marine temperate climate, allowing Gander International Airport to boast a 98.2 per cent weather reliability. Moreover, Gander International Airport maintains year-round blacktop conditions.

Cold winters and cool summers characterize the climate of Gander. The mean annual daily temperature is 39 degrees F (4 degrees C), with January recording a mean of 19 degrees F (-7 degrees C), and July 62 degrees F (17 degrees C).

The distribution of precipitation is relatively even throughout the year, with a minor peak occurring in October and November.

The prevailing winds are westerly in direction and averages 15 mph (24 kph). The incidence of fog is considerably less than in coastal locations, averaging about 3 percent for the whole year.
