- With added security measures, check in at least 2 hours prior to departure.
- Notify your airline in advance of any special dietary needs or other in-flight requirements.
- In the unlikely event that your checked baggage becomes lost or is misrouted, it is a good idea to pack essential items in a carry-on bag. Items include: medications, change of clothes, personal care items, eyeglasses, and car keys. Also, items such as cameras, jewelry, money, passports and other valuables should be packed in carry-on luggage.
- Always carry photo identification, keep your boarding pass and passport secure at all times, and make sure the correct visa and immigration forms have been completed.
- Never leave your bags unattended and have all check-in bags clearly labeled. Bags found unattended could be confiscated or even destroyed as part of Transport Canada's airport security regulations.
- Remember that all carry-on luggage is subject to inspection at the security checkpoint. It could be required that items be opened or that packages be unwrapped for inspection.
- During the flight be sure to drink plenty of non-alcoholic fluids to avoid dehydration. Water is better than coffee, tea or fruit juice.
- Get as much exercise as you can during the flight by walking in the aisle , standing, and doing small twists and stretching exercises in your seat. Use stopovers to get off the plane and stretch your legs.
- To ensure reliable arrivals and departures and save money, be sure to tell your travel agent you want to fly out of Gander International Airport!
