GANDER: STRATEGIC TRANSHIPMENT POINT
Gander has many business and geographic advantages. The community is strategically situated between Europe and North America along the major connecting air route. Existing air cargo carriers at the site provide it with international connections and cargo. The Canadian government has granted this site liberal transhipment rights that allow any licensed air carrier to tranship at Gander. It is also exempt from all noise restrictions, allowing any aircraft to operate here. The airport has state of the art telecommunications, and is in an area with some of the lowest business and operating costs in Canada and the U.S. For European companies exporting to NAFTA, Gander is the best value distribution centre.

SITED ON MAJOR GREAT CIRCLE ROUTES
Gander International Airport is sited on top of the major great circle routes between Europe and North America. This means that air carriers can stop here, tranship, and gain revenue with no or minimal deviation from their flight path, and very little added time or cost.
No bilateral designation is required at Gander for transhipment. Any licensed foreign carrier can tranship foreign bound freight at Gander. Transhipment is allowed between a carrier's own aircraft, another carrier's aircraft, and trucks. This includes transfer between your aircraft and trucks (a true intermodal opportunity). This allows lower cost operations and/or rapid network expansion.
Gander is ideally located for distribution and supply chain enhancements for carrier's operating between North Atlantic and Europe. As the closest practical NAFTA airport to Europe with highway system access, Gander has a strategic distribution position.
