Gander International Airport Authority Inc. (GIAA) is pleased to announce a new service to Cuba.
Beginning on March 16, 2004 through May 11, 2004, Cubana airlines will provide a weekly round trip flight from Gander direct to Varadero, Cuba.
"This will be the only direct flight operating from any Newfoundland airport to Varadero this coming season", said Gary Vey, President and CEO of the GIAA. "We know that all of Newfoundland will take advantage of this new Cubana service." This service will be provided with the ultra modern Airbus A320 aircraft and airfare only seats will be available along with a first class section."
The packages, which are available through local travel agencies are competitive with the services at airports such as Halifax and Toronto.
GIAA wishes to thank all who worked with us in a total team effort to attract Cubana, including Mr. Eric Facey, whose initial help proved invaluable and Mr. Kevin O'Brien our MHA, who prior to his election worked tirelessly, quietly and without remuneration to bring about this service. We look forward to continuing our working relationship with Mr. O'Brien in his new capacity as the MHA for Gander.
