Faster & Touchless Services

Gander International Airport Authority have been working continually on ensuring that YQX is safe for all passengers, employees and clients. Introducing new health and safety measures such as robust cleaning, plexiglass barriers, mandatory face masks, physical distancing markers and reduced seating are in effect to keep you safe.

To further ensure your safety and limit the number of surfaces you touch, here are some suggestions to help you go touchless at YQX;

Check-in Online

Check-in online before you arrive. Many airlines offer online check-in up to 24 hours in advance of your scheduled flight.

Mobile Boarding Pass

During online check-in, select the mobile boarding pass option to eliminate the need to print a hard copy boarding pass and handing paper back and forth to agents.

Use Carry-on Luggage

Using carry-on eliminates the need for bag tags, limits the number of hands touching your bag, and allows you to avoid the baggage claim lineup.

Touchless Payment

Avoid using cash where possible and opt for “tap” payments. If you do need to exchange cash, be sure to wash your hands immediately afterwards

What We’re Doing to Keep You Safe

YQX Gander Int’l is continually working to manage the impact and reduce the potential of COVID-19 in our terminal building.

Cleaning and Sanitation

Heightened cleaning measures are in effect for continuous efforts to help keep our terminal COVID-19 free. Including priority cleaning of all high touch surfaces, disinfection between all arrivals and departures, baggage cart cleaning prior to and after usage, many physical touch-points have been eliminated or reduced, and the installation of additional hand sanitizer stations throughout the terminal.

Plexiglass Protective Barriers

Plexiglass barriers have been installed in key high-traffic areas, including ticket counters, boarding gate, information counter, and concessions counters.

Face Masks and Temperature Checks

All employees are required to wear a facial covering on the main floor of the terminal building and in all other areas where 2m physical distancing from others cannot be maintained. It is recommended that all visitors and passengers wear a mask inside the terminal, especially in the baggage hall area. You may also be required to have your temperature taken at check-in and/or prior to boarding your flight.

Social Distancing Markers

Seating is reduced and reconfigured to promote physical distancing. All “removed from service” seating is identified with markers.

Reduced Seating

Floor stickers and signs are installed throughout the terminal to provide guidance on six-foot distancing at ticket counters, boarding gates, concessions counters, baggage claim, and other common areas. Washroom’s have a limited capacity to allow for physical distancing.

Restricted Access and Limited Services

Terminal access is limited to passengers, employees and clients until further notice. The public viewing area is temporarily closed. The second floor is restricted to employees only. The restaurant and departures café are operating under reduced hours and limited menu selection.
