GANDER INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT: THE IL-76 GATEWAY TO NORTH AMERICA
Gander International Airport accepts all aircraft, 24 hours per day and has no noise restrictions, including the IL-76.
Although the United States and Canada have banned the operation of all non Chapter 3 aircraft, there is one key exception to the noise ban in North America. Gander International Airport is completely exempt from the application of any noise regulations, and can serve Chapter II aircraft (and even Chapter I aircraft) at any time of the day, now and in the future.

THREE NORTH AMERICA MARKET ACCESS OPPORTUNITIES WITH IL-76 SERVICE AT GANDER
The Government of Canada has designated Gander International Airport as an international cargo transshipment center, similar to Anchorage, Alaska. This means IL-76 aircraft can take cargo bound for the United States or Canada, and transfer those goods to a noise complaint aircraft of any carrier you wish, for delivery to the final market.
These liberal traffic rights at Gander can dramatically extend your carrier's reach into the United States, Mexico, and Central and South America with your IL-76 fleet. Gander is served by numerous international freighter carriers on a refueling basis with whom your carrier could potentially transship.
Gander's exemption from Canada's Noise Regulations creates the opportunity for you to use your IL-76 fleet to access the vast NAFTA marketplace. There are three ways that you can use Gander:
- Fly to Gander and transship your cargo to another air carrier;
- Fly to Gander and transship air cargo to trucks;
- Fly to Gander, refuel, and fly onward to Hamilton or North Bay, Ontario (on a permit basis).

GROUND CONNECTIONS
Air freight from your IL-76s can be transferred at Gander to trucks. Gander is on the Trans Canada Highway and connects with the entire North American highway network. As Newfoundland imports more freight by truck from North America than it exports, competitive truck rates can be obtained to North American destinations from Gander.
