Parking At Peak
Airport advising of capacity crunch
(April 23, 2015) The Gander International Airport Authority is advising the traveling public that parking space is at a premium at the airport.
“We are encouraging travelers to consider alternate arrangements where possible, such a carpooling, taking a taxi, or having friends or family members drop them off at the airport,” said the GIAA’s Manager of Infrastructure Stephen Burbridge. “We will do our best to accommodate everyone, but our parking system is oversubscribed. This is a short term measure as the airport authority will soon commence construction of a new long-term parking lot.”
The airport last undertook a parking lot expansion in 2013, but passenger traffic has grown 12% since that time and is forecast to grow further as Westjet and Provincial Airlines commence scheduled service in early May.
“We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and thank our guests for their cooperation,” Mr. Burbridge said.
